Greenhouses (Week 7).

Under glass this week one of the things in flower at the moment and for the past few weeks is this Camellia. There is also a white one but that is only in bud at the moment. This has actually spent the last couple of months in the heated greenhouse. The plant itself is hardy enough but I believe the frost can kill off the flower buds. Now it is back in the unheated conservatory which will hopefully now keep of the worse of the frost that is left.

Beautiful! I moved to a new home this past summer, with a Camillia bush out the back door. I am looking forward to it blooming. I just hope it is a color I can live with.

I have never had much success growing camellias Bob, but when I see the flower close up it really is a beauty. I remember seeing huge camellia bushes in the grounds of Swansea university, where they almost seemed to be wild. Maybe they like a dampish warmish climate, do they?
