Tonights picture from Malta is of a couple of farmers doing their thing - whatever that was. From what I saw all the farming was done this way, by hand, I don't recall seeing any tractors working the land, in fact you couldn't get a tractor on to most of the fields, each one being not much bigger than an allotment plot. Also take note of the wild flowers, any uncultivated land was usually packed full of flowers.

I found out today from the keeper that the family have returned to London, I was expecting them to be here all week so I don't know if something has gone off to force an early return.

Today I set out to plant up a couple of big Tomato plants but after only getting the canes in, I usually put those in first and plant to them so as not to spear the plant later. Anyway I got no further because after standing and taking stock a while (like the farmers in the picture above) I decided that the greenhouse needed a clean up. I have the plastic bubble wrap up all winter and it seems to turn the glass green so after lunch I set too and washed all the glass in the first part of the house and then I disinfected all the walls and any other bits that looked like good hiding places for nasty critters. So now its all fresh and clean ready for the summer. I have the second part to do sometime but I will wait until I move the plants from there to the conservatory for the summer.

I think it would be a more enjoyable way of farming Jeanette, I'm sure the food would taste better for it too.
